What is aromatherapy and how does it work?
Aromatherapy is the use of highly concentrated plant extracts called essential oils to promote the well-being of the body, spirit and mind.
The aroma of an essential oil travels up the nasal cavity where the olfactory sensors are located. These sensors send messages to the brain via the limbic system which controls our emotions.
Within just 4 seconds of registering the aroma the brain releases certain chemicals and endorphins effecting a physical and emotional response.
